Riverbend Academy Statement of Faith

  1. The Word of God
    We believe and teach that the sole and final authority for the church is the Bible, which includes all sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments. We believe and teach that every word of the original autographs is God-breathed. Therefore, the Scriptures are verbally inspired, inerrant, infallible, and totally sufficient and trustworthy for doctrine and instruction. Scripture is the completed revelation of God, and nothing shall be added to it.
  2. The Triune God
    We believe and teach that there is one God, infinite and self-existent, who exists eternally as three distinct yet inseparable persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each equally worthy of worship and obedience.
  3. God the Father
    We believe and teach that God the Father is infinite, personal, spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. He orders and disposes of all things according to His own purpose and grace.
  4. God the Son
    We believe and teach that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died as a substitutionary sacrifice, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to heaven, and will return in glory.
  5. God the Holy Spirit
    We believe and teach that the Holy Spirit is a divine person who convicts the world of sin, regenerates believers, indwells them, and empowers them for godly living and service.
  6. Creation
    We believe and teach that God created the universe out of nothing and sustains all things by His power. Humanity was created in God’s image, male and female.
  7. Humanity and Sin
    We believe and teach that through Adam’s sin all humanity became sinful by nature and choice and is in need of salvation.
  8. Salvation
    We believe and teach that salvation is wholly of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
  9. The Church
    We believe and teach that the church is the body of Christ, composed of all believers. Christ has given the church ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
  10. Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality
    We believe God created humanity male and female and that marriage is between one man and one woman. All sexual activity outside of biblical marriage is sinful.
  11. Last Things
    We believe in the bodily return of Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the dead, eternal life for believers, and eternal judgment for unbelievers.
